Safety Tips
Most scams on classifieds platforms follow a small number of patterns. These tips cover them. Spend a minute on this page before your first deal — it pays off.
1. Communicate safely
- Keep conversations on the platform when possible. Be cautious of someone who insists on moving to LINE or another app immediately and refuses to talk on BoardDee.
- Never share OTP codes, banking passwords, ATM PINs, ID-card photos, bank-book photos, or photos of your face holding ID. Real buyers and sellers do not need any of this from you.
- BoardDee will never ask you for an OTP. If a message claims to be from BoardDee asking for one, it is a scam.
2. Protect your payments
- Never pay a deposit or full prepayment before inspecting the item or property in person. Scammers vanish after receiving the deposit.
- If the seller sends a transfer-receipt screenshot, open your own banking app to confirm the funds actually arrived. A screenshot is not proof — fake transfer slips and fake PromptPay confirmation pages are common.
- Be wary of deals significantly below market — they usually are not real.
- Keep records of every payment and every chat about the deal.
3. Meet in safe locations
- Meet in public, well-lit places: shopping centres, bank branches, coffee shops, or police-station forecourts.
- Avoid inviting strangers to your home; for property viewings, bring someone with you.
- Tell a friend where you are going and who you are meeting. Share your live location for the duration of the meeting.
- For high-value deals (vehicles, jewellery, electronics), consider meeting at a bank so the buyer can verify funds and you can deposit immediately.
4. Verify before you buy
- For vehicles, check the เล่มทะเบียน (vehicle registration book), chassis number, and that the seller's name matches the registered owner.
- For real estate, check the โฉนด (title deed) and confirm the seller is named on it; in condos, check unit ownership and any outstanding fees.
- For phones and electronics, verify IMEI / serial against any warranty records, and try the device end-to-end (calls, camera, charging port) before paying.
- If you cannot inspect in person, ask for additional photos and a live video call. A seller who refuses both is a red flag.
5. Watch for phishing
- Do not click links sent in chat that ask you to "complete the purchase", "claim your shipping refund", "verify your bank for delivery", or similar.
- Phishing pages that mimic Thai banks, PromptPay, and BoardDee itself are common. Always check the URL —
boarddee.comis the only correct domain for our site. - Never enter your bank login or OTP on a page reached from a chat link. Type the address yourself.
- If something feels off — urgency, pressure, an unusually generous deal — pause and re-read the messages. A legitimate counterparty will give you time.
6. Report suspicious activity
If you encounter a scam, prohibited goods, or rude or threatening behavior, use the Report button on the listing. For account-level concerns or anything not tied to a specific listing, email support@boarddee.com. Reports are reviewed by moderators; false or abusive reports may themselves count as platform abuse.
